Hire Film Crew in Georgia (2026): Local Crews, Incentive-Ready
Staffing a shoot in Georgia in 2026? How to hire vetted local film & TV crew fast, how local hiring stretches the state's up-to-30% credit, and where to find gaffers, grips, ACs, and PAs.
If you're shooting in Georgia, the math is simple: the state pays you to be here, and a crew that already lives in-state saves you travel, hotels and per diem on top of it. This is how to staff up.
Why Georgia, and why local crew
Georgia runs one of the most generous film incentives in the country - a 20% base transferable tax credit, plus an additional 10% uplift for including the Georgia Entertainment Promotion (GEP) logo, for an effective 30% (commercials get the 20% base only). There's no annual cap on the program and the minimum qualified spend to access it is $500K. (Georgia.org, GA Dept. of Revenue)
The credit is earned on qualified Georgia spend - and crew wages paid to people working in Georgia are a big part of that. The more of your below-the-line team that's local, the more of your labor cost qualifies, the less you spend on travel and per diem, and the smoother your shoot runs because the crew already knows the stages, the vendors, and the locations.
Atlanta has the soundstages and the depth - but Savannah, Athens, Columbus, and Macon all have working crews too, and hiring them keeps your spend in Georgia.
What you can staff locally
Georgia has a deep, experienced crew base across every department:
- Camera - DPs, operators, 1st and 2nd ACs, DITs, loaders
- Grip & Electric - gaffers, best boys, key grips, dolly grips, riggers
- Sound - production sound mixers, boom ops, utility
- Art - production designers, art directors, set dressers, props
- Production - UPMs, coordinators, ADs, and PAs (office, set, and locations)
- Glam - hair, makeup, wardrobe, costumers
